  • Large scale in vitro screening for potential therapeutics and off-target effects is required to provide safe and effective treatments. Excised rodent tissue and transformed cells have been used for neuronal drug discovery and safety pharmacology screens; however, a model system based on human physiology must be incorporated in order to provide clinically relevant data. CDI has addressed this need by providing researchers with iCell GlutaNeurons; commercial quantities of human iPSC-derived glutamatergic neurons that form connected networks which burst synchronously. By observing the modulation of network activity during a compound screen, researchers can quickly identify potential therapeutics and detect compounds with adverse effects early in the drug discovery process. To learn how iCell GlutaNeurons can be used to assess compound modulation of human neuronal activity, please enjoy the following video!
