  • Speaking at The Science of Cannabis 2020 Online Symposium, Charles Deibel, President & CEO from Deibel Cannabis Laboratories presented his talk on microbial & mycotoxin analysis in cannabis. Abstract: The Cannabis testing laboratories are hindered as there are no published, standardized methods to utilize. Labs must come up with the microbiological and chemistry methods, and validate them on our own. This can be especially challenging due to the vast, ever-changing matrices manufacturers are exploring, as the modern Cannabis consumer is savvy, and has high expectations for quality and taste. Lotions, beverages, oils (tinctures), gummies, chocolates can all require slightly different testing methods. This talk will explore some of the basic principles employed in developing and validating a cannabis microbiological method, with a focus on some of the top Aspergillus testing platforms currently available.
