  • Time-lapse movies acquired using IncuCyte® ZOOM showing real-time analysis of the engulfment of apoptotic Jurkats by the macrophage cell type J774A.1. Apoptotic and non-apoptotic Jurkats are labeled with the IncuCyte™ pHrodo® Red Cell Labeling Kit and the apoptotic cells are phagocytosed by macrophages; as the engulfed cells enter the acidic environment of the phagosome, an increase in fluorescence is seen. IncuCyte ZOOM integrated image analysis tools enable detection and measurement of the red fluorescent signal over the entire assay time-course and minimize the impact of background fluorescence. Note the clearance of apoptotic Jurkats by macrophages over time, while non-apoptotic Jurkats (lacking externalized PS) are not engulfed.
