He is the former executive director of the Edward Teller Education Center, UC Davis/Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and also serves on the board of directors for the Center for the Future of Teaching and Learning (CFTL). In 1996, he was named Teacher of the Year by the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. Stan is also a Carnegie Scholar, a TeachEach Awardee by the Schwab Foundation, and currently serves as chair of the California Teacher Advisory Council and co-chair of the Task Force on Teaching & California's Future, and on the College of Natural Sciences Advisory Board at California State University, Chico."
