Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a serious metabolic disorder that afflicts more than 370 million people worldwide, with 90% having Type 2 (T2DM), which results in life-threatening complications including chronic kidney failure and cardiovascular disease. When studied together, these markers can help researchers elucidate the complex relationship between metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, and ultimately enable more effective and personalized disease treatment. Both pharmaceutical and academic researchers can benefit greatly from the ability to analyze multiple disease-associated biomarkers in each patient sample. The Bio-Plex® Multiplex Immunoassay System can simultaneously quantify up to 100 different proteins, peptides, and DNA or RNA fragments from a single sample, with sample volumes as low as 50 µl, in a 96-well format.
