G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) are membrane-bound signaling proteins that play an important role in clinical medicine. Mutations in GPCRs have been implicated in a variety of human diseases and they constitute the largest class of protein targets for pharmacological manipulation. However, technical challenges persist in the rapid screening of GPCR agonists and antagonists. The Scientist brings together a panel of experts to discuss advances in high-throughput screening for GPCR drug discovery.
