This presentation describes the applications of ion-mobility mass spectrometry to metabolic profiling. We will focus on the ability ion-mobility’s to separate ions in the gas-phase based on differences in their collision cross-section (O) which is affected by the physical size, and shape of the ion. This can thus provide specific information on ionic configuration in addition to giving and orthogonal separation technique when applied during and LC/MS analysis.
