Speaking in October 2020 at the Analytical Cannabis Expo East Online, Lydia Abernethy, Testing and Regulatory Compliance Expert at Steep Hill & TraceTrust presented an update on the cannabis market in Oklahoma. Abstract: The OMMA was established to oversee the medical marijuana program for the State of Oklahoma. It is responsible for licensing, regulating, and administering the program as authorized by state law. Operating under the Oklahoma State Department of Health, the primary goal is to ensure safe and responsible practices for the people of Oklahoma. With roughly 7,000 processors and more than 20 analytical laboratories, Oklahoma’s Medical Marijuana Authority is experiencing an exciting first year of legalization. However, shifting regulations, product recalls, laboratory fraud and revoked licenses create an uncertain landscape. Attend this talk to gain insight on OMMA’s path to a legal market, evolving laws regarding cultivation and product testing, and lessons learned in the first nine months. We will explore how this state’s official Cannabis program compares to neighboring Arkansas and large markets like Colorado, Oregon, Washington, and California.
