  • This video shows how interference removal is accomplished using the Thermo Scientific™ iCAP™ Qnova Series ICP-MS instruments. Single quad ICP-MS, such as the Thermo Scientific™ iCAP™ RQ ICP-MS use helium and kinetic energy discrimination to remove all polyatomic interferences, potentially causing a bias on key contaminants. In contrast, triple quadrupole ICP-MS systems, such as the Thermo Scientific™ iCAP™ TQe ICP-MS and Thermo Scientific™ iCAP™ TQ ICP-MS, leverage reactive gases, such as oxygen, hydrogen or ammonia, to remove interferences. In this way, also other types of interferences, such as doubly charged or isobaric interferences, can be effectively removed and ultimately provide better lower detection limits and improved data quality regardless of the sample matrix. The inherent complexity of triple quadrupole ICP-MS, caused by the many potential options to analyse a given element, is drastically simplified using the Reaction Finder Method Development Assistant, built into the Thermo Scientific™ Qtegra™ Intelligent Scientific Data Solution Software, so that all laboratories can benefit from superior interference removal.
