Extractables and leachables from food packaging have the potential to cause serious health issues. To ensure consumer safety and regulatory compliance, testing labs need to have reliable methods for the detection of these contaminants in food contact materials (FCMs). Using a Shimadzu quadrupole time-of-flight (Q-TOF) mass spectrometer, we developed a proven method for fast, accurate identification of extractables and leachables in FCMs. Watch the video to learn how you can analyze common food storage products, including a plastic bag, a plastic cup and aluminum foil, in a total run time of 15 minutes.
