Abstract: All industries rely on third-party audits for validating everything from Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to business ethics. For the Cannabis industry, establishing universal standardized testing methodologies is crucial for stability and growth. Ingestible (edibles) products that include baked goods, confections, beverages, tablets, and sublinguals is the fastest growing category and presents the most unpredictable experiences leaving consumers confused on what a “dose” is. This discussion explores how setting universal standards for testing ingestible (edibles) products builds trust and reliability in the cannabis and hemp industries. This assists independent labs that have not come from traditional food, beverage, pharmaceutical or nutraceutical backgrounds with best practices for validating all ingredients beyond the source plant materials.
