Regulatory Requirements: Establishing practical analytical test limits

  • Establishing action levels or other analytical test results that may be considered ‘critical’, is not straightforward. Although not consistent and not always acknowledged, regulatory agencies have established expectations for product manufacturers and third-party quality testing laboratories that do not always make practical sense. Pesticide action levels, for example, are possible to achieve using current technology, however, they may not provide desired information about intentional over-use. This session will highlight some of the areas where laboratories are legitimately challenged to meet requirements, and where requirements are uniquely challenged to meet analytical practices.
