  • Researchers at Barts Cancer Institute are offering pre-menopausal women at increased risk of ovarian cancer a two-step surgical alternative to salpingo-oophorectomy (standard of care), to reduce their risk of ovarian cancer as part of the PROTECTOR Study. This involves early salpingectomy followed by delayed oophorectomy. This has the advantage of reducing the risk of ovarian cancer whilst avoiding the detrimental health consequences of premature menopause.
