  • The use of antibodies in immunoassays such as ELISA or Western blotting is critical for antigen detection; however sometimes it is beneficial to use a portion of the molecule instead of the whole antibody itself. By selectively cleaving an antibody with proteases and/or by using reducing agents, it is possible to engineer fragments with discrete characteristics.
