  • In a broad sense, cancer biomarker is an indicative of the presence of cancer in the body or a molecule secreted by a tumor or a specific response of the body to the presence of cancer. It is usually identifiable or measurable in the blood, urine or other convenient body fluids by PCR, ELISA, and other conventional immune assays. In this sense, biomarkers can be categorized into genetic, epigenetic, proteomic, glycomic, and imaging biomarkers for cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and epidemiology.
