Learn how animal physiology researchers at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg use the ChemiDoc MP imaging system to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying eye disease. The ChemiDoc MP system enables stain-free imaging with superior sensitivity, exceptional image quality, and outstanding versatility. Dr Andreas Giessl describes the lab's work studying the translocation of proteins between cellular compartments of photoreceptor cells in the retina to better understand the proteins' role in eye disease. Johanna Mühlhans relates how the researchers use the ChemiDoc MP system in multiple phases of their work: western blotting to localize proteins, quantitating protein expression during different phases of development, and detecting splicing variants. The multiplexing capabilities of the ChemiDoc MP system allow them to visualize multiple proteins simultaneously in a single sample, expanding their research possibilities and allowing them to look more deeply into the involvement of these proteins in human diseases.
