Significant efforts are underway to develop a vaccine against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that has caused the COVID-19 global pandemic. Vaccine hesitancy, defined by the World Health Organization as the reluctance or refusal to vaccinate despite the availability of vaccines, is a critical factor that might influence these efforts. We spoke with Dr Sharon Nachman, Professor and international leader in the area of pediatric infectious disease at Stony Brook University, to learn more about vaccine hesitancy, specifically in the context of COVID-19.
